Location – Deception Bay

Deception Bay is 32 kilometers north-east of Brisbane, part of the Moreton Bay Region; south o Pumicestone Passage and north of the Redcliffe Peninsula. It was named such by Lieutenant John Oxley in 1823 who initially thought the bay was a river – calling it Pumice Stone River, before realising its shallowness and his mistake renaming it Deception Bay.

Once an area of large parcels of farming land, including dairy – over time much of the pastoral land has been subdivided to provide housing for the growing population. In recent years, the beachfront area has beenredesigned and redeveloped under the urban renewal program of the Queensland Government.

There is a smattering of industrial estates, mostly adjoining major arterial routes, such as the Baylink Industrial estate off Lipscombe Road – made up of light industrial, small manufacturing, wholesalers, and service industries. As the suburb and wider region grows there are a myriad of commercial opportunities

including retail, industrial/manufacturing, through to aged care/retirement facilities. Access to the M1 to Brisbane and neighboring communities such as Narangba, Caboolture, Burpengary and North Lakes, ensure that Deception Bay is very much on the radar of those movers and shakers in the development sphere.

The entire Moreton Bay region is earmarked for exponential growth over the coming decades, and Deception

Bay is well placed to play a significant role in facilitating a portion of this growth both in terms of residential population and business/commerce opportunities.
